Avaraikka Thoran


Ingredients needed for Avaraikka Thoran
1 cup chopped Avaraikka
Salt to taste
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp red chilli powder
2 tbsps grated coconut
2 small flakes garlic (if big, one is enough)
1 pinch cumin seeds
2 tsps oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds to the pan with
2-3 red chillies, broken into bits
a few curry leaves pinched

How to prepare this recipe of Avaraikka Thoran
Heat oil in a fry pan, splutter mustard seeds. add curry leaves and broken red chillies.
Add washed and cleaned avaraikka to the pan with salt to taste, turmeric powder and chilli powder.
Sprinkle a little water and cook till the vegetables are tender.
Grind coconut, cumin seeds and garlic flakes to a coarse paste (a round or two in the mixer small jar is enough).
Once the vegetables get tender add the coconut paste and mix well. Cover and simmer for two minutes.
Remove and serve hot as a side dish rice / rotis.
